Hello, fifth graders. This blog is a place where I will occasionally write about my ideas for our class. As you know, there's no such thing as a perfect teacher. One way that I can make sure that my teaching is the best it can be is by getting ideas and feedback from you, my students. In fact, researchers who study education have observed over and over again that students learn more when they get to be part of making decisions in their classroom. So, throughout the year, I will sometimes assign you to read and comment on a new blog post.

Let's get started. Today I need you to help me learn about you. Specifically, I would like to know more about how you like to show what you know about a book. Leave me a comment telling me how you would like to show off what you know about a book you just finished reading. Would you prefer to write a letter about it? Make a podcast about it? Create a graphic organizer about it? Write a new ending or a new scene? Write a letter to the author or a character? Make a comic book version of key moments from the story? Give a speech about the book? These are just ideas that are coming to my mind at the moment. I'm sure you can think of other ways.
